If you would like to store with us, your goods will need to be protected whilst they are in storage.
For a small fee we can offer content cover which is specifically designed to provide protection for your goods in storage and simply added to your storage license fee. All the paperwork will be provided upon your move in.
Content Cover provides protection against loss or damage to your goods during the period of storage and ensures that, in the unlikely event of loss or damage that you are not left out of pocket.
The License Agreement that you sign in order to store limits our liability however we are able to provide an enhanced position of liability up the maximum value you declare, with content cover to provide complete peace of mind to all customers.
Household policies often only cover goods whilst in your own house or in storage for a short period so the cover provided may be limited. Please contact your insurance provider if you want to use your own policy as we will need to make sure any cover mirrors the protection we are able to utilise under our cover. Also there are a number of advantages of using our cover over a household or commercial policy.
When you finalise your agreement with us, you will be asked to complete an inventory of items you intend to store. This will ensure that the insurance company can properly evaluate your claim in the event of a loss. As well as itemising your goods you will also be asked to provide their respective values, which again will help in the event of a claim.
Valuing your goods isn’t something that we can do for you, but we can give you some guidance, for example if you don’t know the value of something try searching that item on the internet, or use a catalogue service to derive a price.
If you are placing items into store which, if totally lost or destroyed, would not be easily valued by reference to list prices or the like, it is strongly recommended that you have recent pre-storage professional valuations or purchase receipts in your possession. It would be solely your own responsibility to provide evidence of values being claimed and if, to give an example, you lost a painting in a fire, this would be virtually impossible to prove unless you had formal documentary evidence prior to moving your property into storage.
For specialised items, particularly works of art or antiques, we would always recommended that you obtain recent professional valuations.
The basis of settlement is on a new for old replacement basis except for linen and clothing however there are some restricted and excluded items so please check in store for further details
