Storage Giant Supports GetYourBellyOut
December is the season of giving back, and at Storage Giant, we take pride in supporting local charities throughout the festive period.
Our Swansea store has worked with GetYourBellyOut – a Crohns and Colitis support charity – in Christmases past. This year, our team was delighted to be approached by the charity yet again to help them spread some festive cheer.
The charity’s 2025 campaign was set up to send Christmas cards to the UK’s first dedicated IBD Nurse, Sheila Phillips, who created the concept of IDB nursing in 1993. Sheila changed the face of IBD care forever, and the charity wants to thank her for the nation-wide impact she’s had.
The GetYourBellyOut team said: “Storage Giant’s support during our last Christmas project to send surplus ostomy supplies to overseas people in need left a lasting impression as the team was reliable, kind, and genuinely committed to helping us make a difference.
“So, when we began planning this year’s Christmas appeal for Sheila, the UK’s first IBD nurse, it was an easy decision to return to Storage Giant. They consistently go above and beyond for their customers, and we knew we could trust them to help us facilitate something truly special.”
Using a PO Box at Storage Giant Swansea, GetYourBellyOut is encouraging its supporters and community to send personalised cards to Sheila. Thanks to Sheila’s passion and commitment to patient-centred IBD care, there are now around 450 specialist IBD nurses in the UK. The charity wants to use this Christmas as an opportunity to thank Sheila for her tireless efforts and pioneering spirit, encouraging letters and cards of thanks and well-wishes.
They continued: “We chose to use a PO Box at Storage Giant as it provides a secure, organised and professional way to manage incoming mail, especially during busy campaigns. It protects privacy, prevents overwhelm at home or office addresses, and ensures that all correspondence is kept safely in one centralised place.
“For charitable organisations or fellow CICs planning nationwide appeals, community-led projects, or anything involving supporter mail, a PO Box is a practical and highly effective solution.
“We hope the PO Box will enable supporters from all over the country – and beyond – to send their love, gratitude and Christmas wishes to Sheila. By creating one accessible mailing point, we can gather a large volume of cards and messages that reflect the enormous appreciation the IBD community has for her pioneering work. Ultimately, we want Sheila to feel celebrated, uplifted and recognised, and Storage Giant’s PO Box helps make this collective show of thanks possible.”
