Keeping your wedding memories safe
With the wedding season coming to a close, its time to think about what to do with all of those cherished memories. You are able to keep the majority of items from your special day.
Wedding dress
When storing your wedding dress it is vital you keep it away from light, heat and damp, as they could all ruin your dress.
Many people believe that hanging your dress up will preserve it. This is not the case. Hanging your dress up will actually misshape it over time.
To stop your dress from becoming misshapen you can store it in a wedding dress box with acid-free paper. You will need to take it out of the box occasionally and refold it to stop the creases setting in place.
If you are desperate to keep your wedding dress on show then a bespoke shadow box is the way to go.
Small items
Even the little things can be important. These can include:
- Save-the-date cards
- Hair accessories
- Invitations
- Jewellery items
These items can be stored, nicely, at least two different ways. The first, in a shadow box. This can be displayed on your wall at home to have a constant reminder of your special day. Displaying these items in a shadow box can be costly though especially if you use a larger box. The second way, create a scrapbook of all the little things from the day. With a scrapbook it is a lot cheaper than a shadow box. You are also able to write a little about each item and the day. This is a great way to remember the day in detail.
Flowers
Your bouquet of flowers and the flower arrangements for your wedding are a beautiful way to remember your wedding day. Unfortunately your flowers will begin to wilt after your wedding and won’t last very long. You are still able to preserve them though.
The easiest way is to press and dry them. You can do this by placing dry flowers in a book, with parchment paper, and leaving them for 7-10 days.
You can then stick your pressed flowers into a scrapbook or even your official wedding album.
Wedding cake
You won’t be able to preserve your whole cake, primarily because most of it will already have been eaten, but you are able to save some of it.
The wedding topper is the obvious item you can store.
Flowers made from petal paste are also parts of your cake you can save.
Keeping your wedding memories safe is extremely important and keeping them in a storage unit is one of the safest ways of storing them. With 24/7 CCTV and your own pin code your wedding memories won’t be more safer.
