Some recent burglaries which saw Beyonce lose a suspected $1M in valuables, and Miley Cyrus lose $10,000 worth of guitars should prompt people to make sure their precious items are being stored securely.

Both burglaries took place in storage facilities in the US, with Beyonce’s LA storage units hit twice by thieves last month when the culprits swiped expensive handbags and clothes thought to belong to her and her stylist. Cyrus lost musical instruments and family photographs when her lock-up was targeted twice too.

Self-storage site burglaries do happen in the UK and it is vital that people ask searching questions about the security of their lock-ups and storage facilities before they decide where they are going to store their goods. This is particularly important for the many thousands of small businesses that are run from storage facilities like ours across the UK.

Here at Storage Giant we have never experienced a break in at any of our 10 sites and our security continues to be state-of-the-art. We have pin code access with biometric fingerprint door locks, a very robust alarm system and 24-hour CCTV cameras around the site. If there is a breach onsite then both police and staff will be called within minutes to ensure office space and private storage space is safe. We incubate thousands of small businesses across our sites, so we are acutely aware that as well as looking after people’s valuables, we also have their livelihoods in our hands, so security is paramount for us.
